sir,

It is now nearly seven weeks since I forward-

-ed to Your Excellency the Rule of Court which I had made alter-

-ing the Vacations of the Court, which Your Excellency has been

good enough to inform me has been sent to the Chamber of Com

-merce for their opinion.

2.

I think Your Excellency will agree with me that the time which the Chamber has taken to express their

views is hardly courteous either to the Government or to the

Chief Justice. It is causing some inconvenience to myself and

members of the legal profession, and I therefore have the

honour to request Your Excellency to sanction a motion being

made at the sitting of the Legislative Council next week,

approving the Rule. The Chamber of Commerce is represented on

the Council, and if that hody has any objection to the proposed

now vacations they can be then stated and answered by one of

the Members of the Bar who is also a Member of Council.

Chief Justice.
